Words & Paintery December Challenge, Shadowbox

Once Upon A Time...

there lived a little Gothic Blythe doll,
named Devon of Salem, in a tiny house in the Woods.
Her tricycle was parked outside. Christmas Stockings hung on the fireplace mantel and a few presents were lying at the foot of the decorated Christmas tree. A new doll was already showing her porcelain face. The chandelier in the top of the house lit up the scene, showing the ghostly reflection in the old mirror.

Then something happened...

Strolling the woods the other day, I stumbled upon this little house. As I got nearer, birds stopped whistling and I felt a chill in the air. Around me there was no sign of frost or snow. The little house however, seemed to be frozen in time. Snow and ice covered the entire scene, from the wood rooftop with the little bird's nest on it, to the fireplace, mirror, Christmas tree, presents, and even Devon herself.
Twas an eery scene... Sad... Breathtakingly beautiful though!
Was there magic involved? A spell? Fear?

Back to reality now ;)
This month's new Words & Paintery challenge inspired me to create this little house. The colors are perfect for any wintery project, so I challenge you to play along with us!
You have until January 15, 2017, to participate.

I would like to submit this project for the following challenges as well:

**************************
The picture of the Blythe doll is my own.
I own about 9 of them. Devon of Salem was my favorite. (Until I ruined her face. I still have to re-do it, but my Blythe dolls have been hiding out in the attic ever since that day... Or maybe it had something to do with my little boy being born. I haven't had time to play with them anymore.)

Step 1.
Start out by fussy cutting the picture.
Using a sheet of paper from Craftmania's "Mr. Smith's Workshop" collection, paper the inside and inner sides. For the ceiling parts I used a piece of Kaisercraft paper, from the Provincial Collection, called "Toile". For the flooring I used some leftover paper with white floorboard print.

Step 2.
Using the Prima Marketing cobblestone stencil and a mixture of Structure Paint Cement Look and Texture Powder (to make it more firm), apply stone pattern to the sides of the house.
Let it dry overnight, then spray some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist 'Silver' on the sides.
Attach the Resin  Prima Shabby Chic Treasure Fireplace to the bottom centre of the backwall.

Step 3.
Heat emboss a chipboard church window with silver embossing powder. Don't you love the Stained Glass Window look?
Not in pictures: make a photocopy of your picture and using Mod Podge, adhere it to a firm piece of cardstock or cardboard. Allow this to dry thoroughly, then wet the image and wipe off the paper excess. Once clean, dry and spray a little Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist 'Silver'.
Glue this to the back of the window and add several layers of clear crackle medium, inbetwixt layers brush some Prima Artisan Powder black in the cracks. Finish off with a few splatters of the Silver Glimmer Mist.

Step 4.
Cover the roof with squares of treebark, cut into smaller strips, in an imbricated manner. (Like real roof tiles/slates. I never knew the existence of this word too, LOL.)
Glue bits of moss inbetween the openings and underneath the roof. Also glue some moss to the bottom and sides of the house.

Step 5.
Decorate a mini Christmas tree with some beads and string some battery operated LED lights around it, guiding the lights up to wrap them around the Prima metal chandelier.
Cut some felt Christmas stockings and glue a big siver bow onto them. Decorate them some more.
Do a flower piece for upon the mantle, and add 2 candlesticks next to it on either side.

Step 6.
You should end up with something like this.
I added some small bits of branch to pose as fire logs, and made some small presents by wrapping up some cardboard. I made a small box to fit the Tim Holtz Salvaged Doll in, covering the doll with Tim Holtz Silver Distress Crackle Paint and wrapping it in some sort of fabric.
The vintage tricycle was bronze, so I colored it Silver with Ranger Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink.

Step 7.
First, make iciles with your hot glue gun.
On the roof, hanging from the tiles, from the chandelier.

Then, cover almost EVERYTHING with Viva Decor "Ice Effect Hologram".
And I mean EVERYTHING.
The roof, the the tricycle, the outer walls, the items on the inside.

Step 8.
This wasn't the effect I had in mind. I wanted it to look more icy.
So, I cooked up a mixture of Mod Podge Gloss, 13 Arts glass filler (very small glassy beads) and Viva Decor "Eiskristall". I reapplied this to every imaginable surface and was almost satisfied.
Almost, because I never am totally ;)
Added some Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam 'Chandelier' for more holographic coloring and it was done.

I will leave you with more pictures and a reminder to watch my video, for an even better look.
I'd love it if you became a subscriber to my YouTube channel. I plan to do process videos too, in the near future.

Yup, I added this little window too. Glued some lace bits to the inside.

Happy Holidays with your loved ones,

and a Happy, Healthy and Creative 2017!

Aaaaw thanx for the double compliment Astrid!
Secretly I have the ambition to become a writer too. I have written fanfiction and the beginning to a story. Some years ago. Who knows... Maybe some day I will write the story. I wanted to incorporate so etching paranormal in that too, by the way. The boyfriend becoming an angel aging talking to the girlfriend he left behind.
