"Some-bunny loves you" mixed media layout

Hey all,

Back to show you some more Easter crafting. Or I thought it would be approppiate to use this bunny picture of Connor and me, regarding Easter ;)
This layout is on the Canvas Corp Brands blog now, HERE. In their post you will find some step by step pics!

I'm no fan of the Snapchat pictures usually, but my brother did this one of Connor and me and I kinda loved it. Connor loved it too, he said we looked so sweet.
To enhance the spring feeling I used fresh and vibrant colors of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, and a mosaic flower pattern as backgound. I'll show you the rest on the CCB Blog...

You can find me on Facebook and Instagram, too.

Words & Paintery March Challenge Mixed Media Layout "Enjoy Summer"

Hi all,

Time for a new challenge over at Words & Paintery!
The beautiful blues and mint combo spoke to me immediately.
You can find the challenge HERE.
You have until April 15 to come up with your entry, so please join us!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Start with your background paper and cover it in clear gesso.
This sheet is from the budget store called Action. This beach photo from last year's Summer Holiday came to mind with these colors. We really enjoyed ourselves at the Dutch beach during those hot Summer days. Connor loved the sand and sea.

Use the 12 by 12 Prima stencil with scales and apply TCW Light & Fluffy modeling paste through it. Use your heatgun to make it puffy.

Do the same with this bubbly stencil. (I think it's by Dutch Doobadoo)

First spray water on your layout, then drip and brush various shades of Tattered Angels glimmer mist over the stenciled areas. Splatter more, following the outlines of the stenciled parts.
The colors Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist I used for this project are:
Mint Julip - True Turquoise and Chalkboard Splash

This wood word 'Enjoy' is from Wibra. Cover it with TCW Gel Medium and 13 Arts glass filler. Then use various shades of the Tattered Angels Glimmermists mentioned above. Dab some white gesso on it and add a layer of mod podge.
'Summer' is a Scrapiniec chipboard, colored with Glimmer Mist and Mod Podge as well.

Add straws underneath the picture and staple them into place. Attach some ribbons, flowers and leaves. Color everything that isn't just right with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, or mellow it down with white gesso. Add Prima Crystals.

These long sea shells are actually souvenirs from the same vacation the photo of Connor was taken.

Add mint colored mica flakes with gel medium over certain areas of your page.

Using your diecut machine and the waffle flower die, cut 2 of them from white paper. Cut them both up and attach 2 halves underneath the picture. Attach the other halves on the top and bottom of the right side of the page.

I hope you enjoyed my take on the challenge, and look forward to your entry!

Mixed Media Watercoloring Canvas "Love Life"

Hi everyone,

Inspired by the Berry71bleu March challenge moodboard I created this canvas.
As a gift for my inlaws, who were celebrating their birthdays.
Subject of the canvas: their favorite little boy, their grandson Connor.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Start out with a 12 by 12 inch canvas.
Adhere the 13Arts paper 'Summer Snow' to the canvas using TCW Gel medium.
Cover the page with TCW clear gesso.

Since I recently learned how to watercolor with my Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists, I tried my hand at it again. Spray water onto your project first, the drip and brush and splatter and blend and dry until you get the desired result. I love the way the colors flow and become such creative shapes.
For this projects I used the following Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists:
Marigold - Summerglow - Dijon - Dragonfly - Simply Sheer Teal  - Chalkboard Seven Seas

Next, use a honeycomb stencil and Prima Finnabair texture Paste Graphite to create the background. Though I have used this paste before, the outcome surpised me again. It worked so well with this stencil, giving the pattern a metal feel and look.
I added this pattern to the (still blank) sides as well.

Using my Bigshot I cut a bunch of Sizzix Tim Holtz wildflowers from Kraft paper and tucked them underneath my picture, mostly on the top side. To flank the picture I chose wood gears. On the wildflowers I splattered various colors of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists (the colors I used before), Viva Decor Rust paste and even some drops of Mod Podge.

Tuck some leaves underneath the picture here and there.
Paint the wood gears with Viva Decor Rust Paste and Glimmermists,
as well as Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam Tail Fin.

The thing I seem to have trouble with ALL the time, is the color of the title. First I made it yellow. Nope. Then Gold. Nope. Dabbed a bit of Viva Decor Rust paste on. Still nope. Added some Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam 'Tail Fin' and then I quit.

The wood feathers were colored differently but using all the media and paints and mists I used throughout the entire project.

As I mentioned before, I added the stenciled pattern to the blank sides first. Once dry, play with water, Tattered Angels Glimmermists and your heatgun until you're satisfied.

Okay, that was it! A shame the canvas isn't in my house anymore ;)

"Enjoy the View" Mixed Media Layout

Hey everyone,

Even though I LOVE being on my designteams, sometimes I need to get rid of some deadlines so I can start scrapping a layout that I want to get off my chest (and doesn't fit any of the themes).
A layout feauturing one of the first pictures of Connor wearing his glasses. (Even though I know that from now on almost ALL of his pictures will include glasses, so kind of silly and pointless, but whatever...)

Since his glasses are orange and black, my initial idea was to use those colors, and maybe add another one. Maybe...

********************************

I started out with this sheet of 7Dots paper, from their 'Cold Country' collection,
called 'As it was before'. I applied TCW transparent gesso on the entire surafce.

With my Tim Holtz Eyechart stencil (especially bought for this purpose!) and Prima Texture Paste Graphite, I stenciled the eyechart onto my paper next to where I was going to put my picture.

Using a TCW Mini Eyechart stenil (349S) with somewhat smaller letters and black ink,
I made some eyecharts all over the page.

This wood Heidi Swapp 'Enjoy the view' seemed very appropiate to me, as are the wood glasses. (From a store called Action.)
I used some Prima Texture Paste Graphite on the big glasses and on the word 'view'.

First I sprayed water, then sprinkled my Tattered Angels Glimmermist 'Pumkin Spice' onto the page.
Using my Bigshot and a Sizzix Tim Holtz Framework Chevron die, I cut the shapes from black foam.

So, using only orange and black gave me this result... Hello HALLOWEEN! Yikes...
I colored the rest of the wood text with Tattered Angels glimmermist 'Pumpkin Spice' as well, and the straws too. They were black and white.
To get rid of the Halloween vibe, I splattered Tattered Angels Glimmermist 'Baseboard Wave'
(a blue shade) on the layout. It turned the orange a little more rusty, and I love that!
All of the black embellishments seemed way too intense now, so I added some Viva Decor Rusty Paper, copper micro beads and 13Arts blue mica flakes.

As usual I tend to forget to take pictures of many of the following steps...
The small glasses are wood and coated with black gesso by TCW, then one step crackle medium.

Those little black Arrow/ V-shapes are from the Chevron diecut as well. Behind the picture I tucked some of the spiderweb-like 'open ribbon' that I colored with the shades of glimmermist I used on this project.

Hope you like it! Comments and questions are always welcome!
