"Awesome" Mixed Media Heart CCB

Hi all,
I'm back to share this heart-shaped mixed media canvas with you. It's on the Canvas Corp Brands blog now, and has the step by step pics as well, in case you're interested.

Recently my brother, I and our families had an afternoon planned to try and get a nice picture of the 6 of us. As a Father's Day gift.
As to be expected, things didn't go as planned. The remote for my camera didn't work, so some old-fashioned running into place after setting the self-timer was involved. Luckily, 10 seconds were enough, even with my twisted ankle, jumping through the prickly grass.
That prickly grass was another point that ruined things. For my son. And my nephew. Who didn't wanna walk through, or even stand in it. So the first few shots we had were displaying some moody faces. Grumpy Cat, move over!
Later on they alternated crying and cooperating. But when they were frolicking on a picknick table, I took a few shots and one really popped out. I edited it to black and white, except for the blues. (We all wore blue to get a nicer picture.) And then I tweeked it a little more and found myself inspired instantly. Does that happen to you too? That a new picture inspires you to scrapbook it right away?

So, that's the backstory. Just so you know these shots of happy boys don't happen all the time. And especially not when planned.

The current "Our Mixed Media Moods" challenge board inspired me enormously!

Below you can find most of the Canvas Corp Brands ingredients I used for my canvas. Finally used some more of the new 7gypsies Architextures, like the Parchment Rub-ons, Junque Pack, Tin Tiles and some of the paper.
I used the Tattered Angels Naturally Aged Paint System - Rusty Metal to make rust, but tried another way with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam as well. You can read about it on the CCB Blog.

I will leave you with some pictures of the finished result. Remember, the steps are on the CCB blog!

Comments and questions are always welcome!

Mixed Media Watercoloring Canvas "Love Life"

Hi everyone,

Inspired by the Berry71bleu March challenge moodboard I created this canvas.
As a gift for my inlaws, who were celebrating their birthdays.
Subject of the canvas: their favorite little boy, their grandson Connor.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Start out with a 12 by 12 inch canvas.
Adhere the 13Arts paper 'Summer Snow' to the canvas using TCW Gel medium.
Cover the page with TCW clear gesso.

Since I recently learned how to watercolor with my Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists, I tried my hand at it again. Spray water onto your project first, the drip and brush and splatter and blend and dry until you get the desired result. I love the way the colors flow and become such creative shapes.
For this projects I used the following Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists:
Marigold - Summerglow - Dijon - Dragonfly - Simply Sheer Teal  - Chalkboard Seven Seas

Next, use a honeycomb stencil and Prima Finnabair texture Paste Graphite to create the background. Though I have used this paste before, the outcome surpised me again. It worked so well with this stencil, giving the pattern a metal feel and look.
I added this pattern to the (still blank) sides as well.

Using my Bigshot I cut a bunch of Sizzix Tim Holtz wildflowers from Kraft paper and tucked them underneath my picture, mostly on the top side. To flank the picture I chose wood gears. On the wildflowers I splattered various colors of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists (the colors I used before), Viva Decor Rust paste and even some drops of Mod Podge.

Tuck some leaves underneath the picture here and there.
Paint the wood gears with Viva Decor Rust Paste and Glimmermists,
as well as Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam Tail Fin.

The thing I seem to have trouble with ALL the time, is the color of the title. First I made it yellow. Nope. Then Gold. Nope. Dabbed a bit of Viva Decor Rust paste on. Still nope. Added some Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam 'Tail Fin' and then I quit.

The wood feathers were colored differently but using all the media and paints and mists I used throughout the entire project.

As I mentioned before, I added the stenciled pattern to the blank sides first. Once dry, play with water, Tattered Angels Glimmermists and your heatgun until you're satisfied.

Okay, that was it! A shame the canvas isn't in my house anymore ;)

Canvas Corp Brands Mini Canvas

Hey all!
As you might know, 2017 is the second year of me being a member of the amazing
Canvas Corp Brands Crew!
They ask the crew to create a 4 by 4 inch canvas that shows 'your style'.
I made my first one last year, and wanted to create a new one for this year. I will show you the process underneath. Hope you'll enjoy it. I loved recreating this miniature scene with the bricks that seem so real, and the shabby shutters, beautiful flowers and grapes, and woman looking out the window so longingly.

*************************************

Here's the raw Canvas Corp Brands canvas, 4 by 4 inch.

Cut a doilie using your diecut machine and a Sizzix Tim Holtz doilie die, from white foam.
Adhere it to the canvas and paint it with Tattered Angels High Impact Paint Rose Gold.

Apply bricks through a Tim Holtz mini stencil, using TCW Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste. Heat it to make it really puffy. (LOVE that stuff!)

Using the Tattered Angels Naturally Aged Paint Kit Architecture 'Concrete',
follow the steps descibed.

Real brick? Yeah baby! LOVE it!!!

Cut an opening in the canvas and add a little chipboard window.

Add 2 shutters and a flower box made of popsicle wood underneath the window.

Coat the shutters and windowpane with Prima Finnabair crakle paste white. Once dry paint with Tattered Angels Glimmer mist 'Mint Julip.'
Adhere a chipboard branch to the canvas, paint it with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam 'Bon Bon'. Paint the leaves with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam 'Tail Fin'. The flower box and birds get a coat of TA High Impact Paint Silver. (Later on they get more coats until they look the way I want to LOL.)

Add some berries to the branch to act as grapes.
Put some leaves, long flowers and moss in the flower box.

Add a little bird in the left corner.
Paint the grapes with TA Glimmer mist 'Pomegranate', as well as some of the flowers.
Paint the other flowers with TA Glimmer Mist 'Mint Julip'.

Behind the window, add some lace for a curtain.
Cut a lovely Gypsy lady from a sheet of 7Gypsies 'Gypsy Moments' paper,
and attach her behind the window, but before the curtains.

Please don't repeat my mistake:
it's okay to add some one step crackle medium over the lady,
just don't start messing about with colors that are too dark or intense to emphasize the cracks.
I blurred her face...

So, here's the final project. Hope you like it!

CCB TCW Bloghop "Villa Villekulla" Mixed Media Birdhouse

Hey everyone!

So sadly this post comes while the #tcwccbmatchup took place in February 2017, thus is over by now. I am sorry about that. But I do hope you had the chance to catch all of both crews beautiful projects?
You can find my project with step by pictures here: canvascorpbrands villa villekulla birdhouse

From both The Crafter's Workshop designteam, as well as the Canvas Corp Brands designteam, some members were elected to create something for this matchup. I was Lucky enough to be on the team! No project of mine is left un-stencilled, so this made me a very happy scrapper.

We were sent a box full of goodies from both companies.

Canvas Corp Brands sent us various sheets of paper and 4 colors of Tattered Angels Glimmer mist and a jar of Glimmer Glam.

The Crafter's Workshop sent us 3 large stencil and 5 small ones, as well as 5 delicious mediums.
The Gold Gesso and Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste have become definite favorites of mine!

In this post I will only show you some pictures and close-ups of the finished result. If you want to know exactly what I did, please hop over to the link I typed above.

Hope you like my work. Come and find me on Facebook: lessisbore
