"Awesome" Mixed Media Heart CCB

Hi all,
I'm back to share this heart-shaped mixed media canvas with you. It's on the Canvas Corp Brands blog now, and has the step by step pics as well, in case you're interested.

Recently my brother, I and our families had an afternoon planned to try and get a nice picture of the 6 of us. As a Father's Day gift.
As to be expected, things didn't go as planned. The remote for my camera didn't work, so some old-fashioned running into place after setting the self-timer was involved. Luckily, 10 seconds were enough, even with my twisted ankle, jumping through the prickly grass.
That prickly grass was another point that ruined things. For my son. And my nephew. Who didn't wanna walk through, or even stand in it. So the first few shots we had were displaying some moody faces. Grumpy Cat, move over!
Later on they alternated crying and cooperating. But when they were frolicking on a picknick table, I took a few shots and one really popped out. I edited it to black and white, except for the blues. (We all wore blue to get a nicer picture.) And then I tweeked it a little more and found myself inspired instantly. Does that happen to you too? That a new picture inspires you to scrapbook it right away?

So, that's the backstory. Just so you know these shots of happy boys don't happen all the time. And especially not when planned.

The current "Our Mixed Media Moods" challenge board inspired me enormously!

Below you can find most of the Canvas Corp Brands ingredients I used for my canvas. Finally used some more of the new 7gypsies Architextures, like the Parchment Rub-ons, Junque Pack, Tin Tiles and some of the paper.
I used the Tattered Angels Naturally Aged Paint System - Rusty Metal to make rust, but tried another way with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam as well. You can read about it on the CCB Blog.

I will leave you with some pictures of the finished result. Remember, the steps are on the CCB blog!

Comments and questions are always welcome!

Words & Paintery June Challenge Mixed media Layout 'Icecream'

Hey all,
Time for the June challenge over at Words & Paintery! The mooboard is soft...
Give it a go, you have until July 15!

Upon seeing the colors and the text, the picture from our Summer Vacation (in the Netherlands) last year came to mind immediately. Connor was enjoying his Cornetto, at the waterside of a very picturesque spot. Can you believe this was actually near a bunker? To us it was an idyllic spot, but the hardship those soldiers must have endured is infathomable.

And in a few measly weeks, it will be time for Summer Holidays again,  already... Time flies!

Step 1.
Sometimes, starting out blank can be good.
Apply clear gesso on a white sheet of cardstock.

Step 2.
Use TCW Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste through the TCW stencil 564S, 'Organic Matter'.
The goal is to sort of mimic the structure of icecream...

Step 3.
First spray water, then drop and tap various shades of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist onto your project. Allow them to drip down, just like a melting icecream would do. Spray or sprinkle more water or mists,  if the effect is not right.

Used Tattered Angels colors:
*Mint Julip
*Chalkboard - Splash
* Baseboard - Baby Girl Pink

Step 4.
Cut some pieces of board from a sheet of paper with board patterns, ink the edges and attach them to the desired position with staples and 3d foam.
This paperpad is from Decotime (Action).

Step 5.
Die-cut leaves from metallic white and mint paper,
using Prima leaves dies and Aliexpress leaf die.
Create your composition using leaves, flowers and straws.
I added shells later on.

Step 6.
Color some wood icecream cones and a little square text block,
using white gesso and the Glimmer Mist colors mentioned above.
Die-cut the little heart-beat from white foam (die: Aliexpress).

Step 7.
When everything is in place, dab white gesso on the embellishments with a sponge first.
Allow to dry, then coat everything in a layer of Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam 'Chandelier'.
Because I use white gesso mostly every time before I use this product, I'm not sure the result is a reaction of both. Either way, the Glimmer Glam gives it a bit of a frosty feel, a milky gleem.
With sparkle!

Well, that about sums it up. Any questions and/or comments are always welcome! I hope to have inspired you to play along! I will leave you with some close-ups of my layout.

CCB TCW Bloghop "Villa Villekulla" Mixed Media Birdhouse

Hey everyone!

So sadly this post comes while the #tcwccbmatchup took place in February 2017, thus is over by now. I am sorry about that. But I do hope you had the chance to catch all of both crews beautiful projects?
You can find my project with step by pictures here: canvascorpbrands villa villekulla birdhouse

From both The Crafter's Workshop designteam, as well as the Canvas Corp Brands designteam, some members were elected to create something for this matchup. I was Lucky enough to be on the team! No project of mine is left un-stencilled, so this made me a very happy scrapper.

We were sent a box full of goodies from both companies.

Canvas Corp Brands sent us various sheets of paper and 4 colors of Tattered Angels Glimmer mist and a jar of Glimmer Glam.

The Crafter's Workshop sent us 3 large stencil and 5 small ones, as well as 5 delicious mediums.
The Gold Gesso and Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste have become definite favorites of mine!

In this post I will only show you some pictures and close-ups of the finished result. If you want to know exactly what I did, please hop over to the link I typed above.

Hope you like my work. Come and find me on Facebook: lessisbore

Words & Paintery January Challenge, Mixed media Layout "Sunshine"

Hello all!

I have been neglecting my blog a bit...
I have been busy, though. For the January challenge over at Words & Paintery I created a layout, according to this moodboard. I had the perfect picture in those exact colors!

The quote was hard to incorporate at first, but then I came up with the lines from the song
"You are my Sunshine".
Please, don't take my Sunshine away.
If anything ever happened to my little boy, that would feel like an unrequited love to me. Heartbreaking...

STEP 1
Blend modeling paste with Tattered Angels Glimmermist "Dyon", apply through TCW Gabriella Pollacco stencil, spray some more glimmermist and allow to drip.

  STEP 2
Blend Glimmermist "Kiwi" and GlimmerGlam "Caspian Sea" with modeling paste
and apply through the same stencil.
In the top right corner I have used another TCW stencil, also by Gabriella Pollacco.

STEP 3
Stamp some text around the stenciled areas with brown ink.

STEP 4
Apply a few coats of white gesso on the Creative embellishments chipboard text, before brushing several colors of yellow and green in an ombre effect on to the text and sun.
I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist "Dyon", "Marigold", "Kiwi", "Green" and Glimmer Glam "Caspian Sea".
Once dry, add one step crackle medium on the text, and add a gloss on the sun. (Yes, I didn't want a cracked sun...)

STEP 5
Color some white open fabric with the same glimmermists, into an ombre blend of yellow and green. Cut the bits and attach them to the back of the picture.

STEP 6
Using your die cutting machine, cut a bunch of foliage in different shapes and colors matching the color scheme. Spray all of them with Tattered Angels Glimmermists to give them more depth.
Tuck these all around the picture, serving as a colorful frame, lengthening the corn from the picture. Don't forget that upper right corner!

That was really all this time... Hope you enjoy my take, and give the challenge a go! I'm a little late posting this, but it still runs until January 15, so.

I'll leave you with some close-ups.
