CCB TCW Bloghop "Villa Villekulla" Mixed Media Birdhouse

Hey everyone!

So sadly this post comes while the #tcwccbmatchup took place in February 2017, thus is over by now. I am sorry about that. But I do hope you had the chance to catch all of both crews beautiful projects?
You can find my project with step by pictures here: canvascorpbrands villa villekulla birdhouse

From both The Crafter's Workshop designteam, as well as the Canvas Corp Brands designteam, some members were elected to create something for this matchup. I was Lucky enough to be on the team! No project of mine is left un-stencilled, so this made me a very happy scrapper.

We were sent a box full of goodies from both companies.

Canvas Corp Brands sent us various sheets of paper and 4 colors of Tattered Angels Glimmer mist and a jar of Glimmer Glam.

The Crafter's Workshop sent us 3 large stencil and 5 small ones, as well as 5 delicious mediums.
The Gold Gesso and Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste have become definite favorites of mine!

In this post I will only show you some pictures and close-ups of the finished result. If you want to know exactly what I did, please hop over to the link I typed above.

Hope you like my work. Come and find me on Facebook: lessisbore

Happy scrapping!

"Treasure" Mixed Media layout

Hi all,

For some time already I had my mind set on the 7dots papers. I hesitated on the "Cold Country" collection, though. On second thought the colours did speak to me. Once they arrived the colours weren't as intense as I'd hoped. That's okay though. Paper is just a background you can adjust, after all.

Furthermore I had seen the deliciously intense colour scheme with rich purple, green and bright blue from the February challenge over at the Words and Paintery blog. But I simply had to add some cobalt blue and gold to make it a bit more 'peacock'. Yumm...

To make those intense colours even more intense, I wanted to use Inka Gold metallics. The challenge asked for glitter and shine, so they can have it!
After working with these creamy pastes I am totally in love. I cannot imagine life without them anymore :P

Velvet flowers, Prima star vines, metal embellishments coloured gold, feathers and Inka Gold applied through stencils, and there you have it...

A creamy, rich, intense, velvety, luxurious, warm layout that makes Connor's eyes POP!
The radiance of a treasure cave filled to the brim. The way I feel about my little boy. He's my greatest treasure.

"Less is Bore!" Mixed media tray (canvas)

Follow me on facebook! "Less is bore!"

Hi all!
Because I felt that my blog needed an actual scrapped banner instead of the digital one I had, I made my own in a Finnabair mixed media style.
A wooden tray was all I could find in the desired size. I turned it upside down though, which seemed easier for stenciling.
First, I coated the tray with white gesso. Adhered a piece of 'open' ribbon to the left and then stenciled different stencils using modelling paste. I stenciled the 'art is..' text, some bricks, a church window and damask.
The wooden frame was covered with a mix of modeling paste and '13 arts magic powder'. I added this a bit on the left corners too, to make the transition from the ribbon to the background more smooth.
Unfortunately it didn't provide me with the crackle texture it should have. Need some practising with it, obviously.

When that had dried I added some more frames, embellishments and letters. Covered everything in gesso. Multiple layers on the colored letters.

When that had all dried I decided the top right corner needed more embellishing. Covered those in gesso too.
For more structure I added glass beads texture gel on some things and crackle paint on others.

I let it dry and added several different colors of mists. I used some Lindy's, Dylusions, Tattered Angels; whichever colour suited my idea. In between colours I dried with my heatgun!

After the first session of spraying I wasn't very pleased so I added another colour and just kept changing things until I was happy.

When I was finished I rubbed some golden colored Inka Gold on every single part that stood out or was textured.

I added some more crackle medium on the letters and some embellishments. The sometimes multiple layers of different colours mist provided me with some lovely, surprising effects!

Later I used a cream colored Inka Gold on my letters because they didn't stand out enough, as you can see in the picture above.

I'll leave you with some close-ups. I'd love to hear what you think! And I'm always happy to answer your questions!

Happy scrapping! :)

Hello!

Gosh, I totally forgot to upload the pictures of our name sign! While this was actually my first attempt at "mixed media Finnabair style". Our name sign dated some years back and didn't have Connors name on it yet. When I got ready to paint that on, I realised the sign was outdated in more than one way.

It matched our previous interior style with its golden sun. Lately I have become more of a shabby chic lover. So I turned the sign into a complete new one. With a sweet nest and birdy on it. The pinks turned out more harsh than I was going for, but I like the end result anyway. It's a cute doorsign, even if I do say so myself! ;)

Take care!

I never knew how much I loved your daddy, until I saw how much he loved you.

Hi fans,

High time to scrap a layout with a very touching quote about fathers. It really shows the way I felt, and still feel. Seeing with how much love and adoration my husband handled our son, completely melted me. It deepened the feelings of love I had for my husband with immeasurable depths...

"I never knew how much I loved your daddy, until I saw how much he loved you..."

To emphasize the fragileness and tenderness I chose to use light, delicate colours and neutrals. Lace and flowers added to the soft feel.

The most precious jewels you'll ever wear around your neck, are the arms of your children.

Hi there,
After having a great day over at my father in laws and his wife, this picture of Connor and me really showed our happiness!
An instant inspiration to scrap with bright and sunny colours. I did the background myself. Once again I messed up the first attempt because the colours didn't do what they were supposed to do. Also, working neatly with stencils without having paint or gesso or modelling paste seeping through the cracks proves to be a challenge!

However, I am pleased with the outcome. The bright colours remind me of these happy, carefree days and the bits of sparkle here and there represent the precious 'jewels' around my neck. Because let's face it: there is nothing more precious in the world! :)

Take care!

Adore

Hello once more,

Here's another layout featuring my little man. I love this picture! It's funny how you visualise an entirely different paper colour at first. I ended up using this one from my much loved but not much used "Rockstar" paper stack. These colours gave the picture way more attention than my initial idea would have done.

These days I couldn't scrap without my mists, crackle paints and stencils!

A layout I'm actually content with once again. If you like it too, leave me a comment!

Take care!

A moment in my belly, a lifetime in my heart

Hello again,

Of course I had to scrap a picture of my (rather modest looking) pregnant belly too! On a canvas, Finnabair style. I ran into a heart shaped canvas, which seemed perfect for this topic.
I embellished, gesso'ed and created an embellical cord with my glue gun, from my belly to a heart shaped charm in which I'd glued a little glass baby, depicting my woom.

It was hard to settle on a quote, but I went with "A moment in my belly, a lifetime in my heart." Because that's simply the truth. ♡♥♡

I used pastel colours, even made my own lilac spraymist. All in all I'm happy with the result, though the whole thing seems somewhat opaque.  I may have to add some of my recently discovered Inka Gold creams... ;)

Just like chocolates, comments make me happy :) (Luckily they're less fattening,  lol)

Take care!
