Canvas Corp Brands Mini Canvas

Hey all!
As you might know, 2017 is the second year of me being a member of the amazing
Canvas Corp Brands Crew!
They ask the crew to create a 4 by 4 inch canvas that shows 'your style'.
I made my first one last year, and wanted to create a new one for this year. I will show you the process underneath. Hope you'll enjoy it. I loved recreating this miniature scene with the bricks that seem so real, and the shabby shutters, beautiful flowers and grapes, and woman looking out the window so longingly.

*************************************

Here's the raw Canvas Corp Brands canvas, 4 by 4 inch.

Cut a doilie using your diecut machine and a Sizzix Tim Holtz doilie die, from white foam.
Adhere it to the canvas and paint it with Tattered Angels High Impact Paint Rose Gold.

Apply bricks through a Tim Holtz mini stencil, using TCW Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste. Heat it to make it really puffy. (LOVE that stuff!)

Using the Tattered Angels Naturally Aged Paint Kit Architecture 'Concrete',
follow the steps descibed.

Real brick? Yeah baby! LOVE it!!!

Cut an opening in the canvas and add a little chipboard window.

Add 2 shutters and a flower box made of popsicle wood underneath the window.

Coat the shutters and windowpane with Prima Finnabair crakle paste white. Once dry paint with Tattered Angels Glimmer mist 'Mint Julip.'
Adhere a chipboard branch to the canvas, paint it with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam 'Bon Bon'. Paint the leaves with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam 'Tail Fin'. The flower box and birds get a coat of TA High Impact Paint Silver. (Later on they get more coats until they look the way I want to LOL.)

Add some berries to the branch to act as grapes.
Put some leaves, long flowers and moss in the flower box.

Add a little bird in the left corner.
Paint the grapes with TA Glimmer mist 'Pomegranate', as well as some of the flowers.
Paint the other flowers with TA Glimmer Mist 'Mint Julip'.

Behind the window, add some lace for a curtain.
Cut a lovely Gypsy lady from a sheet of 7Gypsies 'Gypsy Moments' paper,
and attach her behind the window, but before the curtains.

Please don't repeat my mistake:
it's okay to add some one step crackle medium over the lady,
just don't start messing about with colors that are too dark or intense to emphasize the cracks.
I blurred her face...

So, here's the final project. Hope you like it!

HAPPY SCRAPPING!

CCB TCW Bloghop "Villa Villekulla" Mixed Media Birdhouse

Hey everyone!

So sadly this post comes while the #tcwccbmatchup took place in February 2017, thus is over by now. I am sorry about that. But I do hope you had the chance to catch all of both crews beautiful projects?
You can find my project with step by pictures here: canvascorpbrands villa villekulla birdhouse

From both The Crafter's Workshop designteam, as well as the Canvas Corp Brands designteam, some members were elected to create something for this matchup. I was Lucky enough to be on the team! No project of mine is left un-stencilled, so this made me a very happy scrapper.

We were sent a box full of goodies from both companies.

Canvas Corp Brands sent us various sheets of paper and 4 colors of Tattered Angels Glimmer mist and a jar of Glimmer Glam.

The Crafter's Workshop sent us 3 large stencil and 5 small ones, as well as 5 delicious mediums.
The Gold Gesso and Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste have become definite favorites of mine!

In this post I will only show you some pictures and close-ups of the finished result. If you want to know exactly what I did, please hop over to the link I typed above.

Hope you like my work. Come and find me on Facebook: lessisbore

Happy scrapping!

"Cutest Pumpkin in the Patch" altered mixed media box fall

Hi everyone!
I'm here to show you my interpretation of the latest Canvas Corp Brands September #challenge. It's being featured on the Canvas Corp Brands blog today! In case you're interested to know how and what I did, I'm asking that you head on over to the Canvas Corp Brands blog. I will show you some close-ups, but the step by step is on their blog.

My little box is Autumn themed and as you can see on the moodboard, almost anything goes! The form of your art can be anything you like too. Please check out the link to their challenge and consider playing along, you have until October 5th so no excuses ;)
Not only do they have some great prizes up for grabs, you will also be invited as a guest designer in December! How cool is that?

Before you click the link to find out, I hope you'll have a look at some of the close-ups of my project though. The box is 8 by 8 inches big and from #Scrapiniec.
The picture shows my husband putting our boy Connor, little over 7 months back then, amidst a whole bunch of pumpkins. I wanted to continue the pumpkins '3D' and went on a miniature-pumpkin hunt some weeks before everything fall-related finally hit the stores. I succeeded in a huge garden centre though.

These adorable #chipboard gates are from Scrapiniec also and I had a blast aging them. (I'll show you how on the Canvas Corp Blog!)

It's getting old, but these chipboard spiderwebs are also from Scrapiniec.
The 'cutest pumpkin in the patch' was made from a wood frame and aged, chalkboard sticker and some stamping. Again, the explanation is on the Canvas Corp blog!

Hope you enjoyed the close-ups. Come find me on facebook too: lessisbore

Play along with the challenge if you like it!
Happy scrapping!

Hello!

Gosh, I totally forgot to upload the pictures of our name sign! While this was actually my first attempt at "mixed media Finnabair style". Our name sign dated some years back and didn't have Connors name on it yet. When I got ready to paint that on, I realised the sign was outdated in more than one way.

It matched our previous interior style with its golden sun. Lately I have become more of a shabby chic lover. So I turned the sign into a complete new one. With a sweet nest and birdy on it. The pinks turned out more harsh than I was going for, but I like the end result anyway. It's a cute doorsign, even if I do say so myself! ;)

Take care!

Finally... I have returned...

Hello there,

I had already sort of decided to start a new blog and call it "Less is Bore... Encore" or "Less is Bore, once more" but I'm sticking with this blog anyways.

Okay, so, why my absence?  Life got in the way. In the best way. Because since my last post I have become a mommy! Connor is already over 18 months even... Whoops...
He's a great boy. Adventurous, funny, sweet at times. Handsome. He really was the one thing missing in our lives. ♡♥

So before he came, we had to clean out the room that was to become his. Then paint and decorate it. Then ofcourse there was the time our whole life revolved around our little man. And it still does. Obviously... ;)

But, we redid the attic as well. Painted it, had a carpenter install some (sliding) doors and straighten out the crooked furnace.
So I'm back to where I once started to scrap: the attic. And while I still haven't sorted everything out (knowing me that will probably never happen anyway...) I have truly recovered my mojo there!

I don't think I have ever scrapped this much in a row! I finally have the cutest subject to scrap about, maybe that's why? While he's sleeping I relive the precious moments we shared by working with his pictures.

I also made a new 'object' featuring my deceased mom's picture.  Because the layout I did on her which was standing in the room, clashed with our (new) living room colours.

I'll try and update this blog with my latest projects, stick with me!

Take care... And I LOVE it if you'd leave me a comment! :)
