"Worth the weight" Mixed Media layout

                    Worth the weight

Hi everyone!
Are you enjoying the holidays? Or do you still have to work a little, like me? It's still doesn't feel like Christmas is almost near. The older I get, the faster time seems to go by...

I'm not someone who participates in scrap challenges a lot, but I couldn't pass up the challenge over at "Scrap around the world." Sadly it's their last challenge. It runs until the end of the month so you can still play along!
The moodboard colours spoke to me, I thought of a sheet of paper by Prima (Royal Menagerie series) I had recently bought and wanted to use with a picture of purple, pregnant me ;)
The flowers and leaves would be easy to incorporate as well, since this would be a girly layout for a change.
I even thought about using the sentence "The future looks bright" but somehow the 'F' didn't match ;)

I started by choosing some chipboards from Scrapiniec. (The "W" monograce being one of them, in order to fulfill my second scrapped layout with a letter, from the monogram alphabet I won.)

My layout title would be "Worth the weight/wait" so I chose to stencil clocks with modeling paste. Once dry I sprayed some golden glimmer mist over the areas I stenciled.

Altering the chipboard was the next step. I sprayed the swirls with the same golden glimmer mist, then added some golden Inka Gold and golden micro beads blended with a gel medium.
While working on my previous layout I discovered the monograms look at their best when the inside swirls are a different colour from the outline. I sprayed the letter with golden glimmermist and gave the outline a pink/purple coat with Inka Gold.
I added a clockface from 13Arts to the chipboard clock and altered both of them as well.

Time for embellishing... I adhered my fussy cut picture to a little piece of journaling paper and started embellishing alongside the outlines. (Using the picture only to refer to the placement, I didn't glue it down until I had the sides fully embellished.)
Because my motto is "Less is bore!" I couldn't stop... Seriously, sometimes I wish I could add less. Ugh.

The rest of the title (it's a joke referring to the weight rather than the wait) I made by writing on a wooden tag with a versamark marker and heat embossing the words with golden embossing powder.

When everything was in place I sprayed some more golden glimmermist over all the embellishments. I gave the die cut cherubs and wooden tag a coat of crackle glaze to age them.
I added the gel medium blended with golden micro beads on the flowers.

And that's that. In case I forgot to explain something, don't hesitate to ask. If you like it, leave me a comment.
I'd love for you to like my facebookpage Less is bore! as well!

I'll leave you with some more close-ups of my page and wish you a very merry Christmas surrounded by loved ones, and happy scrapping :)

A moment in my belly, a lifetime in my heart

Hello again,

Of course I had to scrap a picture of my (rather modest looking) pregnant belly too! On a canvas, Finnabair style. I ran into a heart shaped canvas, which seemed perfect for this topic.
I embellished, gesso'ed and created an embellical cord with my glue gun, from my belly to a heart shaped charm in which I'd glued a little glass baby, depicting my woom.

It was hard to settle on a quote, but I went with "A moment in my belly, a lifetime in my heart." Because that's simply the truth. ♡♥♡

I used pastel colours, even made my own lilac spraymist. All in all I'm happy with the result, though the whole thing seems somewhat opaque.  I may have to add some of my recently discovered Inka Gold creams... ;)

Just like chocolates, comments make me happy :) (Luckily they're less fattening,  lol)

Take care!

Finally... I have returned...

Hello there,

I had already sort of decided to start a new blog and call it "Less is Bore... Encore" or "Less is Bore, once more" but I'm sticking with this blog anyways.

Okay, so, why my absence?  Life got in the way. In the best way. Because since my last post I have become a mommy! Connor is already over 18 months even... Whoops...
He's a great boy. Adventurous, funny, sweet at times. Handsome. He really was the one thing missing in our lives. ♡♥

So before he came, we had to clean out the room that was to become his. Then paint and decorate it. Then ofcourse there was the time our whole life revolved around our little man. And it still does. Obviously... ;)

But, we redid the attic as well. Painted it, had a carpenter install some (sliding) doors and straighten out the crooked furnace.
So I'm back to where I once started to scrap: the attic. And while I still haven't sorted everything out (knowing me that will probably never happen anyway...) I have truly recovered my mojo there!

I don't think I have ever scrapped this much in a row! I finally have the cutest subject to scrap about, maybe that's why? While he's sleeping I relive the precious moments we shared by working with his pictures.

I also made a new 'object' featuring my deceased mom's picture.  Because the layout I did on her which was standing in the room, clashed with our (new) living room colours.

I'll try and update this blog with my latest projects, stick with me!

Take care... And I LOVE it if you'd leave me a comment! :)

My 2nd publication!!!

Hey all,

Yup, I've been a BAD blogger again! Bad scrapper too, for that matter... ;-) Again, I'm NOT in a scrapmood, strangely enough. I'm having a few days off and I wanted to scrap yesterday, but first I had to clean out my scrap-space. That took me HOURS!!! :-( When I was done, the inspiration had vanished, LOL.

However, the "Scrapbook" magazine that featured a LO and card I was asked to create for it, finally got published! Here are some screencaps of the front, and the pages with my work featured on it. (On the bottom page only the card on the left is my creation.)
God and it sounds so vain, but I'm not nearly as excited as I was when I got published the first time... You get used to it, I guess... :P

Further more, my brother and his (now) fiancee are getting married, very soon! May 12th. They're expecting, so they wanted to take care of that before the kid is due. Which will be somewhere in August. I took some pictures of them and I'm gonna scrap them something with these pics. Hope they'll like it. Hope I'll be inspired in time, too.

Happy Scrappin'! XOXO

Winter Wonder Land

Hey you,
So, I didn't even mention that we are experiencing a REAL winter over here! It hasn't happened in yeeeeaaaars, so it is somewhat special. I have to admit though I am NOT a big fan of cold, brrrr....I hate my static hair and dry skin, I hate wearing so much clothing and still feeling cold. I hate the slippery roads, de-icing my car every morning and drive to my work feeling cold and frosty like a snowman...

However...I have to say: it looks GORGEOUS!!! And as much as I hate admitting it, you get used to the weatherconditions. That's the problem with this country and this climate, we don't get long cold winters, we get rain. And an occasional snow day. So we never get a chance to adjust ourselves, learn to get up earlier due to the de-icing, traffic and slippery roads. But it looks like we're gonna experience winter a bit longer this time!

XOXO, happy scrapping, see ya!
