CCB TCW Bloghop "Villa Villekulla" Mixed Media Birdhouse

Hey everyone!

So sadly this post comes while the #tcwccbmatchup took place in February 2017, thus is over by now. I am sorry about that. But I do hope you had the chance to catch all of both crews beautiful projects?
You can find my project with step by pictures here: canvascorpbrands villa villekulla birdhouse

From both The Crafter's Workshop designteam, as well as the Canvas Corp Brands designteam, some members were elected to create something for this matchup. I was Lucky enough to be on the team! No project of mine is left un-stencilled, so this made me a very happy scrapper.

We were sent a box full of goodies from both companies.

Canvas Corp Brands sent us various sheets of paper and 4 colors of Tattered Angels Glimmer mist and a jar of Glimmer Glam.

The Crafter's Workshop sent us 3 large stencil and 5 small ones, as well as 5 delicious mediums.
The Gold Gesso and Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste have become definite favorites of mine!

In this post I will only show you some pictures and close-ups of the finished result. If you want to know exactly what I did, please hop over to the link I typed above.

Hope you like my work. Come and find me on Facebook: lessisbore

Happy scrapping!

Words & Paintery August Challenge Mixed Media Layout "Love & Peace"

Hi everyone,
I'm back to show you my second layout as designteam member of the 'Words & Paintery' challenge blog. Their August challenge just went live!
Please check out the link to the blog:
You have until September 15 to play along with us, by using the moodboard below.

4

Starting out with this piece of beautifil paper from #Primamarketing, 'Perfecto' from the Cigar Box Secrets line, and this lovely vintage slide-turned-photo with my young mom on it. She was in her teens, so it was the sixties: Peace, Love. The picture was taken during their summer holiday: flip flops.

Using #modelingpaste and #TatteredAngels #glimmermist 'Rusty Red' and #Lindysstampgang' Starburst purple, I used a #Primamarketing #Finnabair #doilie #stencil on my paper. Usually I blend my modeling paste a little before applying it with a mist, then spray something on it once I'm done too.

Stamped some images of my recently puirchased #Prima #Finnabair background stamp set, with #Tim Holtz #distress ink 'mahogany'.

Glued #lace to the #MDF circle, and gave it a coat of white #gesso.

Sprayed the circle with #Tatteredangels #glimmermist 'Red Lobster' and 'Rusty Red'. On the left side of the paper I stenciled a bit of text with a #13Arts #stencil, modeling paste and purple mist. Sadly my mixture bled through the stencil. Hopelessly. Forcing me to stray from my initial design idea. Once again. I had to cover that left section up, so I chose to use a smaller picture on that side.
I added red and purple #flowers, red #crochet flowers my aunt made for me, a little 'Peace' charm, and the wood word LOVE.

Once everything was in place I dabbed everything with white gesso, softening the colors. Added a few purple glitter #swirls and #chipboard hearts too.
And messed up the part above the circle by spraying a little too much Glimmermist. Sigh...

Gave the word 'LOVE' a bit of glimmer with glimmermist 'Red Lobster' and added a #onestepcrackle medium. Gotta love #crackle.

Hope you like it anyway. The color scheme was extremely difficult for me! It would be great if you would join us and show us your interpretation!

HAPPY SCRAPPING!

"Father and Son" (vader en zoon) mixed media layout

Hi all!
Wanted to show my latest layout. The one that rolled out like magic, everything worked out fine, I didn't struggle for days with color schemes, etc. This one confirms my mojo does come around again, sometimes ;)
The design was inspired by a layout Mary Catt did. I love all of her work, but that one was very different because of the lines. It really stood out!
This picture was a lucky shot, with my phone, while riding the bus back from the beach during our holiday. I loved how the sunlight caught the blue in both my boys' eyes and the way they sat together staring outside after a long, hot day at the beach.. (The pacifier sucks...) (Pun intended hahaha... )

This particular piece of Paper is from the #ActionNL and was perfect for this design.

I started out with a diamond plate pattern stencil and  #Prima #finnabair texture paste #Graphite, topped off with some #Prima #Finnabair #rustpaste.

Next, I sprayed some #TatteredAngels #glimmermist 'Navy Blue' through a #Timholtz stencil called 'Measured'.

I stenciled some words with the stencil pictured below, using the #Prima #Finnabair #texturepaste #graphite again, only blended with black #gesso because I wanted it to be more black.

Next up some rusty stars, using two different 'star' stencils,
 and 2 shades of #Prima #Finnabair #rustpaste.

Stamped some sentiments here and there, using Black #Archival ink, and splattered and sprayed some #Tatteredangels #glimmermist 'Navy Blue' wherever I felt it was needed.

Here are some close-ups.
I will explain the steps I haven't mentioned yet, underneath the pictures.

The starry chipboard 'frame' is by #Creativeembellishments and was given the rust paste treatment also. Sprayed a little glimmermist and added a little crackle glaze on it as well.

 The black stitches are stickers.
They were silver so I gave them a coat of black gesso to match my project,

The little 'Family St' plaque is #Primamarketing. It was treated with rust paste and one step #crackle medium. The wood star you can still see a little on the left, was also treated with rust paste.

The arrows. Some are wood, some are cork. I painted them with black gesso, Prima texture paste Graphite and rust paste.

The zipper is actually a plastic bracelet. It needed a little rust, too ;)

'Vader en zoon' means 'Father and Son'. I coated the chipboard with white gesso first, then some gray #structurepaint #cementlook from #ActionNL. Then I sprayed a little glimmermist, using 'Navy Blue' and 'Rolling Tide'. Then I added rust paste and finally one step crackle medium.

I hope you like my layout! Comments and questions are always welcome.

HAPPY SCRAPPING!

Mixed media canvas "Lights will guide us home" May Challenge 'Words & Paintery' blog

Hi all!

Remember me winning the March Words & Paintery challenge with my altered fan?
Because of that I was asked as a feature for their May challenge! You can check out their post here.
You'll find a little more info on me there as well, in case you're interested.
Secretly I have been working on my canvas using their brand new color scheme. You are so welcome to join them, the challenge is open until June 15!
Check it out here:
Words & Paintery May challenge

Those jummy and fresh colors spoke to me immediately! The quote however, gave me some trouble. Until I came up with the perfect idea...
Last Summer we spent our holidays in England, again. My husband and I love England. Only this time we brought our son for the first time (and my dad too) to share our love for England with them! This was even Connors first holiday/vacation ever.

The picture I used was taken on the boat on our way back, from Dover to Calais. Obviously the lights that will guide us home are the lighthouses and other coastal lights. Which is why I used a lighthouse on my canvas as well.

For starters I glued a paper to a canvas. The paper is from 13 Arts and is called 'Faces of Spring/In your eyes'.
Then I applied Tattered Angels Glimmerglam 'Tailfin' mixed with gesso through a compass stencil to emphasise the 'way home'. Once dry I added some more of the same Glimmerglam.
Through the Tim Holtz swirls stencil I used Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint Opal Magic 'pinkblue' mixed with 13 Arts 'Magic Powder' to thicken it.

Through a damask stencil I used modeling paste blended with Tattered Angels glimmermist 'Pink Poodle'. Love the razor sharp voluminous result!

Once dry I sprayed a little more of the Tattered Angels 'Pink Poodle' glimmermist over the damask patterns and a little on the paper here and there.
Stamped some rope with knots with black ink on the page.

On the spot I had thought my picture, I glued some bandage/gauche with gel medium and added Finnabair 'Artstones' in different sizes. I covered most of it with white gesso, mimicking sea foam.

Around the edges, in the corners and on the sides of the canvas I added Prima Crackle Paste, allowing it to dry overnight. Colored the crackle paste with some Lindy's Stampgang 'Mad Hatter Mint' and Tattered Angels Glimmerglam 'Tailfin'. Same goes for the gesso'ed parts on the bandage.

I'll explain some more underneath the pictures of the finished result.

Sprayed some glimmermist on the ribbon, crumpled it and let it dry. The big blue rose was handmade by my sweet friend Jetty.
The blue berries and twigs are from 13 Arts. The little bottle was filled with 13 Arts 'glass filler beads small'.

The chipboard letters and word are covered with gesso, Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint Opal Magic 'pinkblue' and 'bluegold', some Tattered Angels Glimmerglam 'Tailfin' and 13 Arts 'glass filler beads small'.
The steering wheel roughly got the same treatment after receiving a layer of Prima 'crackle paste' first.
The space in between is filled up with Prima Finnabair Art Pebbles in different sizes, 13 Arts 'glass filler beads small', Prima 'Artstones' and some glass balls. All was colored with Tattered Angels Glimmerglam 'Tailfin' after the gel medium dried.

The chipboard lighthouse is Scrapiniec, the wings are plaster and the ornament is done with a new Prima IOD baroque mold and clay.
Filled the lighthouse up with mod podge I blended in two tones, one gold and the other mint.
The wings are coated with Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint Opal magic 'bluegold' and brushed of with a bit of pink.
The ornament got a layer of gesso and some small art stones, the A whole bunch of different shades because I just didn't like the result. I tried Prima Mica Powder Opal magic blue and green first. Then some of Prima's Opal Magic paints, some glimmermist, some gesso, you get the picture ;)
Just paint and play until you like the result!

Sticking to the maritime theme and our journey on the boat, my canvas needed a little boat too of course. I thought it would be fun to have some little cherubs in the boat, whispering a little secret. The secret is that they're carrying with them one of the compasses letters: 'S' for South.

Filling up the space around the picture I added shells, bits of straws, flowers, leaves, branches, chipboard, charms, etc. I wrapped some beaded string with hearts through the embellished parts. When all was in place I painted it with Tattered Angels Glimmerglam 'Chandelier'.

That's it. I think. Took me quite some time to finish this one up because I kept missing and thus adding stuff ;)
